Offering a gorgeous hand painted Chinese porcelain ginger jar, circa Mid 20th Century. This jar is considered "Famille Noire" because of its black background. The entire body of the jar is surrounded on all sides with large colorful butterflies and bitter melons with green leaves. The background has arabesque pink and blue tendrils throughout. There is a bright yellow, pink and turquoise traditional Chinese "Ruji Head" border at the top of the jar and a traditional Chinese "Lappet" border at the bottom of the jar. There is an upside down butterfly on the front and the back of the jar, with two other large upright butterflies, one in-flight. In Chinese decor the butterfly signifies the arrival of good fortune, love, and long life. EXCELLENT CONDITION. This beautiful jar came directly out of a Naples Florida estate and was never used and sat upon a shell for over 60 years. It is sparkling clean both inside and out.
