Hand-thrown Japanese jar from the Iwami region (Shimane), of the type traditionally used for storing or pickling umeboshi, pickles and other tsukemono. Dimensions: height 20 cm, diameter 17 cm. The jar has a warm, cream-coloured glaze over reddish clay, with playful cobalt-blue drip lines on the sides. Beautiful rounded shape with a slightly flared rim. The inside is glazed as well, so it is still perfectly decorative and usable today. In good vintage condition with small age-related traces on the rim, appropriate to use. Lovely as a Japanese ikebana or flower pot, utensil jar in the kitchen or simply as an authentic wabi-sabi accent.
