This fine pair of circa 1850s Sevres urns is signed by the artist Baston. The covered urns are beautifully hand painted & depict romantic scenes of courtship. Each urn features two young adults, costumed in period clothing, closely guarded by Cupid's eye. The collar, lid & base are highlighted with raised gold slip wire designed against a rich cobalt blue background. The lid caps are accented with pine cone finials. Also, there are side mounts of a woman's full face. These caps & side mounts are executed in dore' bronze. The body of each urn has glaze crazing, as is seen in the images but I do not think this hinders the splendor of the pair. There are no chips, cracks or repairs.
