Artist Biography: Solveig Cox (1931–2017) was an American ceramic artist known for her hand-thrown and hand-built functional ware, often featuring whimsical figurative and animal motifs. She developed her pottery techniques in Munich, Germany, during the 1950s. Upon returning to the United States, Cox established her studio practice in Virginia, where she achieved commercial success selling her distinctive ceramic ware, giftware, and furniture across the country. Her work is characterized by bold glazes, expressive linework, and a playful engagement with form and decoration.
