A very good antique American Art Deco repoussé decorated Sterling silver novelty cigarette box, circa 1925. The hinged lid is deeply decorated with a repoussé work design depicting a dapper dressed gentleman lighting a cigarette, whilst using his hat to shelter the lit match from the wind. Although the silver box was made in the mid 1920s it has an engraved dedication "1916 1941 To Harry and Ella", the base of the box is stamped sterling. Condition of the box is very good indeed; the hinged lid opens & closes with ease, no damage or repair, the box weighs 184 grams.
