Magnificent tranquil pine tree with 2 crane bird in this traditional, handmade, hand-stitched Chinese Su double-sided silk embroidery with exactly the same image on both sides. The calm and subtle design details of the composition are executed with masterful and intricate layers of stitches, with the sheen of the silk threads highlighting the details when the image is rotated and viewed from different angles. The fine, handmade silk rectangle is framed behind glass on both sides, in a Chinese Chippendale style, handmade and elaborately hand-carved rosewood fretwork frame mounted on a frame stand. The work of art pivots within the frame to display both sides. The frame simply slides into the stand. The image measures approximately 19"diameter. The frame measures approximately 26” high x 20” wide x 6.5” thick. Dating back 2,500 years, the art form of Su embroidery is the most celebrated and complex of the four main styles of Chinese silk embroidery, originally from Suzhou and surrounding towns of Jiangsu province. Renowned for its subtle and refined needlework, Su embroidery is praised for its use of the finest silk threads, balanced compositions, dense stitching, and smooth finish. Using threads as fine as human hair, artisans skillfully embroider complex designs on both sides at the same time.
