Hand-Chased Ottoman Helmet

Chairish

$599

Crafted entirely by hand in the centuries-old tradition of Ottoman armory, this brass display helmet is not a reproduction; it is a continuation. Every surface has been worked by a single artisan using hammer, chisel, and acid-relief techniques passed down through generations of Turkish metalwork. The dome is covered edge to edge in a dense, hand-chased geometric field; an interlocking six-petal rosette pattern known in Islamic art as the Flower of Life motif, punctuated at each node by a hand-punched circular boss. Not a single motif was stamped or cast. Each form was individually struck into the brass surface, creating a low-relief field of extraordinary precision and rhythm. Height: 58 cm / 22.8 inc Width: 22 cm / 8.6 inc Depth: 22 cm / 8.6 inc Encircling the lower crown is a calligraphic band bearing verses from Surah Al-Fath — the Chapter of Victory — rendered in raised Arabic script using kalem (chisel) engraving against a hand-textured ground. At the center front, a forged brass nasal bar terminates in a teardrop cartouche bearing the Allah inscription in bold relief, hand-fitted and riveted to the collector helmet body. This piece belongs not on a shelf, but in a space that demands presence; a private library, a collector's cabinet, a CEO's office where craft and legacy speak louder than words. It rests on its own hand-hammered brass display stand, arriving ready to command any room it enters.
