Handpainted Fairground Dodgems Ticket Booth, 1950s

Chairish

$5,400

1950’s original fairground hand painted dodgems ticket booth. One of the rarest and most extraordinary objects we have bought. This is a completely original ticket/pay booth for coxs super dodgems. The booth was designed flat packed so that it could be transported around the country to the various fairs. The front of the booth has a simple panel that is removed when the booth is trading, and a lovely orange shelf inside for practicality. The rear features two orange acrylic light panels. The exceptional original artwork is by the well known artist/sign writer pete tei. The booth is substantial and well made, made mostly of 15/18mm ply reinforced with hardwood stringers, when assembled the booth stands strong and secure. A stunning original piece of practical art. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
