The Hippo Toy from Kay Bojesen takes an angular approach, built from straight, even lines with a wide, open mouth and round eyes that give it an expressive, good-natured character. The painted finish covers the body evenly, the straight-edged form contrasting with the playful expression on its face. First introduced in Denmark in the mid-1950s, the design has remained largely unchanged since its debut.
