An authentic steddle or staddle stone from the West Country of England from the late 1700s, featuring a four-sided pyramid-shaped base mounted with a mushroom-shaped cap of quarried stone. Use outdoors or indoors to create a contemporary or rustic English-garden effect. They are often used in England to line drive-ways and paths. A wonderful garden feature, steddle (or staddle) stones were originally used as supporting bases for granaries, hayricks, and game larders. The steddle stones lifted the granaries above the ground thereby protecting the stored grain from vermin and water seepage.
