An original hand-made plate from Francisco Rebajes, made of pure copper with an indented sunflower motif and signed on the inner rim. Francisco Rebajes rose to prominence in the New York art scene of the 1930s, known for his copper jewelry and other decorative objects; his work was included in exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the 1939 New York World’s Fair. This plate exemplifies his use of natural themes and the Art Deco influence of the time, and has a lovely unpolished antique copper finish on both front and back. There is a small bracket built into the piece for hanging on the wall.
