In the French Art Nouveau style, Pierre Clement Massier is known for his innovative use of metallic luster glazes, subtle montages of pattern in iridescent colors on earthenware. This is a very rare test tile and was. bought at the artists studio in Vallauris, France in 1982. It is signed and dated with the artist's notes on the back. The indication of Golfe-Juan refers to the resort on the French Riviera where the Vallauris pottery studios are located. Massier's work is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC as well as in many other esteemed collections.
