About: from early childhood, ceramic artist uriel caspi (b. 1994) has been fascinated with clay. Working with clay to articulate thoughts and feelings, the artist has developed unique working methods and his own visual vocabulary to explore and expand vessel-body spectrum. Caspi’s investigations in clay allow him to manipulate traditional forms into ‘embodied objects’ and to extrapolate the genetics of the human corpus into abstract forms, where nature and technology become indistinguishable. Visually inspired by archeological remnants and future-oriented design, caspi creates installations of large-scale ceramic sculptures that function as platforms for examining space and time. Artifacts and speculative species are transformed into clay through an experimental process that occasionally merges ancient ceramic techniques with digital fabrication. His works evoke aesthetics of antiquity and visionary habitats in tandem. Uriel caspi has been working internationally as an artist-in-residence and a fellow in the academia.
