Lovely septarian nodule orb specimen. Comes with a tall patinated brass stand. Fluted legs are adorned with lion heads and circular base and top. From an estate featuring many objets de art in marble and semi precious stones. Circa 1980s Septarian Nodules are fossilized mud bubbles that formed between 50 and 70 million years ago. They are composed of calcite, aragonite, and are coated in limestone. Septarian Nodules form in air bubbles which create crystal pockets. The combination of minerals create an interesting contrast in texture as well as color making it a sought after stone for home decor. Definitely an example of the ugly ducking turning into a swan!
