Representative two-part Art Deco study in mountain elm burl, Vienna circa 1925 This exceptional two-part study was created around 1925 and combines the elegant design language of Viennese Art Deco with exceptionally high-quality craftsmanship. The ensemble consists of a generously sized desk and an imposing bookcase and display cabinet. Both pieces are fully veneered with carefully selected mountain elm burl, whose vibrant grain is showcased to particularly striking effect in warm honey, amber, and golden-brown tones. Fine ebonized finishes and rounded edges lend the furniture an elegant, architectural quality. The desk impresses with its balanced proportions and functional interior layout, featuring a large drawer as well as side compartments and pull-out shelves. Despite its stately appearance, it feels light and modern. The two-part bookcase combines closed storage with a spacious central display cabinet and open shelves. The clear design, the perfect veneer selection, and the high-quality craftsmanship are reminiscent of Viennese masterpieces from the interwar period. Although no documented attribution exists to date, the design shows clear parallels to Viennese designs from the mid-1920s.
