Italian Model 573 Desk Lamp By Gino Sarfatti For Arteluce, 1956

Chairish

$8,237

Rare model 573 desk or table lamp designed by gino sarfatti and manufactured by arteluce, italy 1956. This very nice direct table lamp has a cast iron base, covered with the trademark finish in black crackle paint. The centre stems are made of chrome plated metal and are adjustable in different positions and angles. A solid aluminium ball in the centre is the adjusting mechanism which was also used in other models. The typical sarfatti shade was used in different versions of his lamps and is a combination of anodized aluminium and has a green acrylic glass diffuser ring which gives a nice light effect when lit. In this lamp sarfatti created balance between direct light and decorative light. The green diffuser ring makes sure you don’t stare directly into the lamp and also gives the appearance that it is lit where in fact this is only the light bulb reflecting on the ring. The cable which exists at the end of the arm and goes into the centre stem, takes on a decorative as well as functional value. This lamp is perfect as a desk lamp for example due to its multiple adjusting functions. The lamp uses an e27 bulb up to 100 watts, can use an led bulb as well and is dimmable. this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, up to 250v (europe/uk standard).the wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
