An 18th century Chinese K’ang table dating to the Kangxi period of the Qing dynasty (1661–1722). Crafted in rosewood with restrained classical proportions, this example reflects the refined balance and structural clarity characteristic of early Qing furniture. The table measures 63.5" W x 26" D x 27" H. The main desk surface locks securely into the two leg bases, forming a stable and cohesive structure while allowing for disassembly if needed. This piece was appraised in 1991 by Patricia Salmon, Asian Fine Art Appraiser, with a valuation of $6,000 at that time. Documentation is included and visible in the photos. The form is clean and architectural, with paneled aprons and traditional brass hardware and dovetail joints. The lower latticework shelving adds both visual rhythm and functional storage. A substantial and historically significant example of early Chinese furniture suitable for use as a writing table, console, or statement desk. Condition: Rosewood shows age-appropriate wear consistent with an 18th century piece, including surface variation and minor marks from use. Structurally sound. The locking mechanism between the top and bases functions as intended.
