19th century french bureau plat an exceptional quality 19th century french bureau plat with ormolu mounts. this remarkable bureau plat has veneers of tulipwood and amaranth. The model is taken from the designs of the maker phillipe-claude montigny, who became a master in 1766 and worked extensively for the royal family. it has a tooled leather top with a greek key pattern, the pattern repeated in marquetry on the drawer fronts and the side friezes. The ormolu mounts consist of mouldings, floral paterae, sabots and escutcheons of the highest possible quality.
