An absolutely stunning and early antique French inlaid walnut ormolu mounted desk / writing table. This dates from around the 1800-1820 period. It is of exceptionally fine quality, this is really quite a special piece. It is predominantly walnut, there is incredibly fine inlay of satin wood throughout. The borders have extremely fine and intricate patterns, and on each of the four top corners there is a unique inlaid floral image. There are even finely detailed inlaid patterns that run down each leg. The gilt bronze ormolu mounts are also of incredibly high quality, they are seen all over this desk, and on the front, back and sides they hold in place beautiful hand painted porcelain plaques, which are probably Sevres. There are two drawers in the front, the back of this has no drawers but is finished in an identical fashion, so this can be used as a free standing item. We have had this recently restored and re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age.
