Design Executed in rosewood, the desk features a broad floating top with vivid grain patterns that shift from deep auburn to near-black figuring depending on the light. The surface is uninterrupted and expansive, giving the desk an architectural presence that feels almost monolithic. Beneath the top sits a discreet drawer arrangement integrated into the apron, each fitted with circular rosewood pulls framed by brass escutcheons. Those subtle details soften the otherwise linear composition and introduce a tactile quality to the design. The polished chrome frame forms two open rectangular supports connected beneath the top, creating a sense of suspension and lightness despite the substantial proportions. Kjær often worked with modular principles and rational structures, drawing inspiration from contemporary office architecture and international modernist design.
