An elegant Early 19th Century French ebonized bureau plat with a warm, well-worn leather writing surface set within a molded ebonized border. Three drawers across the frieze are fitted with ornate gilt bronze foliate handles and escutcheons. The shaped, scalloped apron flows into cabriole legs terminating in gilt bronze hoof sabots. The drawer interiors show good solid secondary wood construction.
