Dutch design from the 1950s. The golden brown teak veneer, the rectangular shapes and the asymmetrical accent gives this desk all the right mid-century hallmarks. The flatsteel chrome hairpin legs give a floating appearance. Very minimal looking, but still quite a large top to work at, and the 3 drawers offers lot of storage space. The forward-thinking of Dutch designers such as Cees Braakman paved the way of success for a number of Dutch furniture companies. Clearly inspired by designs of Eames, Knoll and Danish furniture makers, Pastoe, Fristho, Tijsseling and many others introduced the use of prefab board into their first line of modern furniture. The compact design and the material evokes a warm atmosphere. Great restored ready for use condition, all is checked and solid and a minimal of usermarks. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
