An exceptional partners desk with grand proportions and refined details reflecting the English Georgian period. The top is highlighted by a three-panel emerald green leather writing surface with gold-tooled borders, set within a field of burl walnut veneers. The desk’s perimeter is finished with a double layer of thin cross banding and segmented reeded moulding that gives an appearance reminiscent of bamboo. This dual-sided desk is designed with six drawers (three per side) featuring cross banded ogee-profile fronts. This "S" curve is echoed throughout the apron, which is also segmented like the moulding around the upper and lower edges. The drawers utilize high-quality dovetail joinery and internal mortise locks, leaving the richly figured walnut grain uninterrupted. All is supported by four bold cabriole legs with deep acanthus leaf carvings at the knees and terminating in crisp ball-and-claw feet. Condition: Good vintage condition. The finish is good with some signs of use and age; the leather top shows a light patina consistent with high quality vintage furniture. See photos.
