Belgian Mid-Century mini Willy Van Der Meeren Industrial desks for Tubax. Willy van der Meeren, a groundbreaking giant in post-war Belgian design, designed this compact writing desk for Belgian manufacturer Tubax during the company's peak production period in the early 1960s. Desks have printed Formica tops, a laminate technology popular in postwar European furniture manufacturing that durability for high-use environments. The tubular metal frame features black enamel finish with wire-reinforced leg bracing, supporting a the top with wood edges. Frame construction employs welded tubular steel with an integrated lower shelf measuring 4.25 inches high, providing 24.75 inches of seat clearance. Edge treatments vary between rounded plywood and square joint details across production runs. Desks are overall well-preserved overall but show some surface marks, including visible enamel loss on the metal frame and patina consistent with their age and use.
