A fine pair of mid-18th-century Swedish Rococo side chairs, each with an elegantly shaped serpentine back splat, scalloped seat rails, and subtly cabriole-shaped front legs. Carved in a provincial workshop during Sweden’s Rococo period, the chairs exhibit the lightness and graceful movement characteristic of the era’s rural interpretations of French Rococo design. The surfaces retain layered historic paint in pale blue, green, and cream tones, worn through in areas from centuries of use. The frames are structurally sound, with later upholstery in a natural textured fabric. These chairs exemplify the quiet sophistication and timeless appeal of Swedish Rococo seating, suitable for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
