Handcrafted wavy black ash dining chair.Inspired by the Alpine style stick chairs - the freehand organic, wavy shape of the back rest updates this traditional style of chair in an amusing fashion.Careful attention is paid to the joinery, with tapered tenons used for the legs, which get tighter over time. Control of moisture content and grain orientation of the English ash ensures joints that can last generations. The stock for the legs was rived to follow the arrow straight grain, providing extra strength compared to sawing the stock. The back is held in place with wedges that can be knocked out to easily disassemble.The ash is carefully hand painted many times with milk paint to achieve this deep lustrous finish.The seat has a shallow saddle that adds to the surprising comfort of this chair.
