A star architect behind Danish Modern, Poul Kjærholm often combined his favored structural steel with other organic materials, as in PK1 with its dramatic swoosh of an FSC-certified woven paper-cord seat. As recreated by Carl Hansen & Søn, the seat takes a skilled craftsman 15 hours to weave by hand—making the dining chair a design icon with its balance of aesthetics, comfort and stability.
