A phenomenal set of six Scandinavian mid century modern dining chairs in teak and Edelman leather by Johannes Andersen, made in Denmark by Brdr. Andersen in the 1960s. The deep, accentuated backs flow into a pair of half-length arms, perfect elbow rests as a meal winds down and conversation takes over. Softly sculpted branches grow organically from the frame to support the front of the arms, making for an exceptionally solid structure. Characterized by swooping curves and rounded forms, the BA 113 chair has not a sharp edge in sight. The absence of stretcher bars between the legs helps to maintain the clean, understated aesthetic. It remains one of Andersen’s finest designs. The set has been refinished and reupholstered in a light beige leather from Edelman’s Royal Hide collection, with new high density foam to ensure many years of comfortable use. Black leather accents on the arms serve as a punctuation mark between the wooden and upholstered parts of the chair. All chairs in the set are sturdy and ready for use.
