These are the early, plywood-back versions of the iconic Chipotle chair, designed in the late 1990s by Steve Sauer, whose vision helped shape the brand’s original industrial-modern aesthetic. Drawing from Frank Lloyd Wright’s Usonian principles, Sauer created a design using molded plywood and welded steel rod framing, built for simplicity, strength, and honest materials. These are part of that first wave, produced before later updates introduced composite materials.
