1950’s original french multipl’s table and chair set – blue. Designed by joseph mathieu and made in pierre benite in lyon . The listing is for the table and four matching chairs. Multipl’s are an iconic part of industrial french history. Each chair was hand pressed in huge industrial presses before being hand welded together, the table was hand built. The set is in the original paint showing wear commensurate with their age. The set makes an exceptional design statement but is also a good practical scale as a dining set for regular use. Multipl’s was, in its day the competitor to tolix, although sadly multipl’s did not survive. Examples of multipl’s chairs in this condition are becoming increasingly rare, a table set is even rarer.
