The shape, the style, the age and patina are just a few of the elements that stopped me in my tracks when I first saw this table. It is a three-legged oval walnut table. This could have been a writing table originally for one person to pull up a chair and spread out pens and paper. It could have also been used as a serving table, but there is certainly a specific reason that the design only includes three legs. At some point in its history, a clod placed a wet glass on the table and that created a ring in a side corner. This could be attended to with a bit of conservancy, but that restoration would interfere with the beautiful patina that has developed over time. This is a wonderful piece that generated quite a bit of interest at an estate auction, and we prevailed.
