In the 1920s and 1930s, Marcel Breuer (1902-1981) designed a series of tubular steel furniture. with his designs typical of the Bauhaus style, Breuer revolutionized the furniture industry and had a lasting impact on interior design. Marcel Breuer was a German-American architect of Austro-Hungarian origin. He taught at the Bauhaus in Dessau and is considered the inventor of modern tubular steel. The "B28" table model – available in circular or rectangular versions – was designed by Breuer in the 1930s. We are offering the rarer square version with rounded corners. The table was produced by the Swiss company Embru. The manufacturer's mark is on the underside. At 72 cm high, the table is well-suited for dining or working. It is in excellent condition. The tabletop was freshly lacquered by the previous owner and therefore shows only very minor signs of wear. The chrome-plated tubular steel frame shows some corrosion and scratches. Overall, these are rather inconspicuous considering its age. Tabletop dimensions: 80 x 80 cm.
