This drop-leaf, gatefold birch, dining table was designed by the Finnish designer Alvar Aalto and retailed by Finsven in the late 1940s. This early model has two drop-leaves that can extend the table 60 inches wide for a dinner party, with one leaf down for everyday or fold away to a console with both leaves down. The versatility along with its minimal space requirements make it perfect for apartments and small spaces everywhere. Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) is a world famous architect and designer. His furniture designs and technical innovations on bent plywood furniture, such as his patented L-legs featured in this table, had a tremendous impact on modernist furniture. Some of Aalto's most iconic designs have sold for record prices at auction and can be found in numerous private collections and famous museums.
