This is a large discerning antique late victorian telescopic extending dining table, circa 1890 in date. The table has five original leaves, can comfortably seat fourteen and has been hand-crafted from solid flame mahogany with a beautiful grain and colour. The table top and apron features a fluted design which includes five leaves that can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion by a pull-out extending mechanism with brass clips that lock the leaves in position. The table is round when all the leaves are removed, and oval when they are added. The table is raised on five square fluted tapering legs with ormolu detail to the stepped foot on brass castors witt the central leg to give it extra stability. This stunning table will stand out in your living or conference room and will definitely become a key piece in your furnishing collection. The botanical name for the mahogany that this item is made of is swietenia macrophylla and this type of mahogany is not subject to cites regulation and does not contain any restricted materials. Condition: in excellent condition having been beautifully cleaned polished and waxed in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation.
