Signed John Stuart, the famous American Furniture maker, this mid century pedestal table lived with a single owner in the New York area. Intended to be a dining table, this piece can also serve as a center or foyer table. The table has two additional leaves extending it to seat up to 6 or 8. . Beautiful wood grains. Veneers over hard wood. The fluted pedestal is carved and supports the round top and the leaf extension mechanism on the underside. There are two additional leaves. Each measures 18" w x 42" long. The 42.5" W is as shown in photo one without the leaves. Signed and numbered. Original wood finish with wear. There is some surface wear to the top and to its original wood finish from use and age. Some scratching to top surface. The pedestal legs have veneer loss as shown.. The table's veneer will need some restoration to bring this piece back to its original condition. Being sold as is with surface wear and veneer loss to base/legs. The new owner will have a fabulous John Stewart Table with knowledge that a bit of repair to the veneer losses is an good investment to a rare piece of furniture.
