Rare and Large George II Mahogany Drop-Leaf Table, the rectangular top formed of three single-board planks of rich, figured mahogany, each with rounded corners, serpentine edges and finely carved gadrooning and floral decoration. The top rests above a plain frieze embellished with carved gadrooning, raised on elegant cabriole legs with crisply carved floral and acanthus knees, terminating in deeply undercut ball-and-claw feet. The quality of the carving, proportion, and timber suggest the work of a skilled London cabinetmaker. English, circa 1765. H. 30 in. x D. 47.5 in. x L. 25 in. (closed); with two 20.5 in. leaves, overall width 66 in. (opened).
