Large, early Biedermeier expandable / extending dining room table in solid and veneered walnut, Switzerland circa 1810-20. Round table with solid walnut top and legs and walnut veneered apron. Old restored condition with minor signs of wear. 2 additional supporting legs in the middle. Old brass sabots with castor rolls are attached to all six legs, allowing the table to be moved easily. Extendable in the middle with a total of 4 inset tops of 60 cm / 23.6" each in walnut veneer, added later. Of which 1 top with frame. Expandable in 5 different lengths. When fully extended (all 4 extension leaves / plates), the table offers seating for up to 14 people. Original pull-out mechanism in solid beech wood. Recessed grips underneath the plate for easier pull-out extension. Brass hinges at the bottom of the plates to ensure better cohesion.
