28.25" tall and 59.5" diameter, A marvelous table top produced in radial sunburst walnut with a central walnut locus to the center and finished with walnut lumber edges rounded off for seater comfort. This Table top was produced to accompany this original cast iron Knoll Base from the late 50's, early 60s. The table base has been refinished with off-white almost almond oil enamel and is blemish free. The table top was recently produced by Aaron Saxton in his workshop using his unique method of radial cutting and assembly. This table will easily sit 6 -8 people. Very heavy and very sturdy. The finish to the table top is a conversion varnish which has the feel of lacquer but the durability you'd expect in commercial areas and can take plates, cutlery, hot, cold and alcoholic beverages in it's stride. The walnut used has a chatoyancy about it, and is architectural graded walnut. Given the table top is modern and the base is mid-century, one can correctly call it an amalgamation of two great styles. This table is made in every way to last generations with a top up to the task. Brass tag to the underside "An Original Aaron Saxton". Shown are the serial numbers used on the Knoll Cast Iron bases in the 1950's, early 1960's before ether switched to the lighter aluminum.
