Only two examples of this table were produced from a single block of Brazilian marble by designer Georges Mathias. We can find some traces of shiny metal in this marble which makes this table quite special. No maker's mark. Well proportioned table in used condition with minor scuffing on surface. Biography: Georges Mathias began his career as an industrial designer at Philips Design, where he refined his know-how. In 1984, he created Georges Mathias Design, a studio that supports prestigious brands such as Renault, Hermès and Louis Vuitton. At the same time, he became involved in passing on his knowledge by becoming a teacher at the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle (ENSCI) in Paris. Passionate about the balance between form and function, he favors a refined aesthetic and practical efficiency. His creations have earned him several major distinctions: the Prix de la Ville de Paris in 1983, recognition from the Observeur du Design in 1998, and the Prix du Design de la région Île-de-France in 2003. Although he retired in 2013, Georges Mathias' influence remains deeply rooted in the world of design, where his work continues to be admired and studied.
