The particular layer of stone from which this table was recovered is paleontologically significant as it documents a mass mortality event which occurred in the ancient lake that year; it explains why there is such an abundance of specimens present in one layer. The tabletop measures 5 feet across. It is partially backed in wood and it sits atop an elegantly crafted, custom-made steel base which compliments the fossil color beautifully.
