Large, Swiss, early Biedermeier expandable / extending table in walnut, circa 1820. Round table with solid walnut top and legs and walnut veneered apron. Extendable in the middle with a total of 4 inlay plates / leaves of 60 cm / 23.6" each in walnut veneer, added later. One of the leaves has an apron on the sides. Two additional supporting legs in the middle. Old brass sabots with castor rolls are attached to the tips of all six legs, allowing the table to be moved easily. Original pull-out mechanism in solid beech wood. Recessed grips underneath the plate for easier pull-out extension. Brass hinges at the bottom of the plates ensure better cohesion. Expandable in 5 different lengths. When fully extended (all 4 extension leaves / plates), the table offers seating for up to 14 people. Old restored condition with minor signs of wear.
