This dining table is a contemporary edition of the Apparat table, originally designed by the famous designer Maxime Old in 1956. It was made for the Salon du Palais of the Halle aux toiles in Rouen, and its central part opens to accommodate planters. The Anne Jacquemin Sablon gallery presents a contemporary edition of the Apparat table, characterized by its X-shaped brushed oak compass base and satin sycamore top. The tray is crafted with wood threads going in different directions to create a unique pattern. The satin finish of the top creates a polished effect, contrasting with the ribs of the brushed oak.Maxime Old (1910-1991) is one of the most important designers and interior architects of the 20th century. His work was highly appreciated and recognized from the 1930s to the 1980s. Starting in the 1960s, he became more interested in designing more global furniture while also considering his environment. As an interior designer, he was responsible for designing entire spaces, such as the Paquebot France and the Rouen City Hall. Today, the Anne Jacquemin Sablon gallery publishes the original drawings by Maxime Old, which were not produced at the time. The pieces produced now are therefore considered first editions based on the designs from the 1940s to the 1980s.
