Modern Kreiss Trieste Collection 60" Round Travertine & Wrought Iron Center Or Dining Table
Chairish$4,700
A "Sheif of Wheat" shaped heavy pedestal iron table base is sold here with a 60" round honed travertine top ideal as a center or dining table. It's a key item from the Trieste Collection (circa 1980s) made by the Kreiss Company, the award winning West Hollywood, California based interior design and manufacturing company credited with creating the "Kreiss Look" aka "California Look". The style trend that dominated the better part of the 1980s. The table features a dramatic juxtaposition of heavy, cream-colored natural stone. and a robust, hand-forged twisted rope spindle of rods that meet to flat wheels of iron at the top and at the bottom and have a cinched center. The iron has a dust of rust and a natural patination with a light gold tint hint that gives it a sophisticated finish. The small "waist" that creates the hourglass visual or figure 8 has been embraced by many houses including Russell Woodard with his spun fiber version, Ed Wormley designed his take for Dunbar who did an iconic angular metal version of the symbol of infinity. They likely served as inspiration to the Kreiss version, which is our favorite. This table can be used indoors or outdoors depending on the intended ambience.
