Studio Buzao’s Hot collection uses electroplated stainless steel to trigger psychedelic reactions in grass-rooted language. Called Hot, the collection includes tables, benches, a side table, and a display stand, which have been launched on a truck moving in central Shanghai during Design Shanghai 2019. Violently psychedelic contrasting colors, extend from extremely hot to extremely cold, without missing any visible light band. The hue of Hot collection presents on continuous folding surfaces like a thermal image analysis. The specular reflection, the vertical and horizontal erecting of the body, the increased various overlaps of the hue, the mutually environmentally reflected light or shadow.Material: Electroplated stainless steel, plasticProduction lead time: 3 - 4 weeks About the artist/ designer:The word “buzao” means “I don't know” in Chinese, deriving from the popular expression of the Chinese millennial generation. The name itself is a reflection of the studio’s interest in experimentation in unexpected materials and processes, often with unforeseeable results. The studio’s philosophy emphasizes the interplay between shapes, light, and environment, challenging the definition of product design by infusing their methods with the uncertainty of the artistic process. As part of a new vanguard of emerging Chinese designers, Studio Buzao is located in Pearl River Delta, a capital of manufacturing and fabrication. The studio’s proximity to these manufacturing resources has provided high-level approaches to craftsmanship, technology, and material in each of its pieces. No two projects are ever quite the same. The studio's interest is in unusual materials, placing equal weight on both the raw and processed. In the past, these have included volcanic rock, laminated glass, marble, and electroplated stainless steel. New applications of materials that already exist in the natural environment or in certain industries create an ever-evolving body of work with each new discovery.
