This extraordinary round table is made from a single solid slab of petrified wood sourced from the volcanic regions of Indonesia, where ancient trees turned to stone around 20 million years ago. The sheer size of the slab — measuring 172 cm at its widest point, 145 cm at its narrowest, and 9 cm thick — reveals that it once belonged to an exceptionally large prehistoric tree, preserved through a rare geological process that transformed wood into quartz-like stone while retaining every grain and ring of its organic origin. The surface displays a captivating interplay of beige, pink, and black tones, enriched with intricate natural veining and textures that tell the story of the tree’s ancient life. Each detail is a trace of time, offering a direct, tactile connection to Earth’s distant past. Supported by a modern black steel base, the table achieves a perfect balance between natural irregularity and contemporary design. The base’s minimalist form allows the monumental, organic shape of the petrified wood to take centre stage, giving the impression of a sculpture as much as a functional table. Whether used as a dining table, a statement centrepiece, or an artful focal point in a grand interior, this piece embodies both history and harmony. Each table from Xyleia Petrified Wood is meticulously selected and shaped in our Indonesian workshop, then hand-finished in Twello, the Netherlands. A timeless and sculptural work of nature, uniting the strength of stone, the soul of wood, and 20 million years of natural history in one exceptional design.
