Exquisite bronze display case with mirror bottom and carved wooden gold gilt base, from the period the French call “la belle époque” meaning “the beautiful age” (1890-1914) . Featuring gorgeous curved glass in a bronze frame, with a stunning patina and gold gilt ormolu on the corners. Includes one glass shelf and two front draws with original bronze handles. Seven of of the eleven pieces of glass are elegantly and sensually curved. We were told this piece was out of a Museum, possibly the Metropolitan Museum in Manhattan, New York. This is a unique and rare high quality case of museum caliber. It was sitting in a magnificent home for the past 100 years, as per photos. Amazingly the original bronze feet are still there with the addition of there original wooden pads! Imperfections- The only imperfections are on the gilding of the wooden base, as per photos. Some gilding lose; common for a piece of its age. Never restored and in beautiful original condition. This case alone stands as a piece of sculptural art, waiting to enhance the beauty of one of your collections!
