Monumental Mahogany Display Cabinet Circa 1850

Chairish

$4,950

This beautiful antique cabinet was reportedly purchased from the estate auction of Farrah Fawcett. This was one of two identical cabinets that she kept in her home. The two cabinets were sold separately. The auction house dated the cabinet to 1850. It has been modified from an armoire to a display cabinet. The cabinet stands 8 ft tall and is 7 ft wide. The only documentation I received is a photo of the cabinet while still at the auction house, in its original condition with a date on the photo. I'm sure it is possible to research the items sold at that auction, but I haven't done so. The modifications and restoration were done professionally several years ago. Custom-made mahogany shelves were made for the side cabinets. The mirror on the back wall is the original mirror that hung on the middle door. New glass was made for the middle door. Glass shelves were made custom-made and lighting was added in all three compartments that can be turned on and off independently of one another. Everything besides the shelves and the glass on the front door are original. All the hardware and embellishments are original. The storage in this cabinet is fantastic. I currently have it stored in my living room for safe keeping and I have to say I love it. It's a showpiece yet practical. This item sold at auction 8 years ago for $9,000. An additional $5,000 was spent on restoration and modifications. If you have any questions please message me, I'd be happy to answer anything I can.
