A Very Fine Antique Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Cherry Hepplewhite Tall Chest Lancaster County, Pennsylvania circa 1800-1820 Estate found in the Lititz area. Superb cherry case, solid single board sides, with poplar dovetailed top and bottom boards. Reeded cornice moulding, lamb’s tongue columns on the corners, and a reeded base moulding. All resting on the original flared French bracket feet. A 3 over 5 drawer arrangement, with scratch bean edges on each drawer. Drawer lining secondary woods are tulip poplar. Retains original round brass knobs, brass escutcheons, and steel locks. Includes 2 keys. The finished surface is the original. The interior of the case is as clean as the day it was made. This chest is in the condition in which they like to be found, untouched from the day it was made. No restorations. Minor repairs. Size: 65” tall, 23” deep, and 42 1/2” tall. Approximately 200lbs weight, unladen. Condition: original as found condition. A old repair to the cornice moulding, and an old repair to the right uppermost drawer face. Various cracks in the feet from age/shrinkage. Age/use/wear marks are consistent with age/use. Various minor scratches/dings/scuffs throughout from age/use. See pictures.
