A period, walnut Louis XIV commode with marble top and rounded, fluted corners (which form the feet) . The flat front has a pair of side by side drawers over two long drawers. The lovely drawer pulls are rococo and would have been added at a later date. The side panels are nicely molded, echoing the medallions on the drawer fronts. The figured deep red marble, original, has a been broken and repaired (see photos). All in all an exceptional and lovely example of a 17th century French commode.
