A French wooden three-drawer carved-wood commode from the 18th century. This antique chest from France has a 4.5 foot long rectangular-shaped top, over case which houses three full-sized and graduated drawers. The skirt is straight and clean, and this chest is raised upon petite spaded feet, with front feet flute-carved. The dove-tailed drawers are beautifully adorned with trim and large floral medallions, and each fitted with a pair of ring-pulls that have decorative flower head back-plates, and an escutcheon set at center. The side panels are outlined in the same carved trimming as the drawer fronts. The fruitwood has a wonderful old patina throughout. Not that there have been some prior repairs to the top. This 18th century French commode will make a delightful case piece which would work in just about any room in your home!
